Scotland Ladies - European Championship Squad

 The Scottish Ladies International Pool Team have competed in all major EUKPF events since its formation and have been a highly successful team. Listed below are our honours since I became Manager in 1996:-

World Team Champions: 1997, 1998, 2001, 2002, 2003 & 2005

European Team Champions: 1997 & 1998.

Nations Cup Team Champions: 1997, 1998, 2002 & 2004

The Scottish Ladies International Pool Team were the first team in history to complete the “grand slam” not only did our team manage this fete in 1997 we completed the “grand slam” for a second time in 1998. For the record if we manage to win the European Championships in Isle of Man, it will again mean we hold all ladies team titles on offer – plenty to play for.


Yvonne Ewing (Manager) – Has been a Scottish Internationalist since 1995 and is in her 10th year of management. She was European singles champion in 1996 and a semi-finalist in 2003. In 1996 she and Diane Colville were European Doubles champions. Yvonne has reached the quarter finals of the World ladies singles in 2002 and 2004 and was runner-up in this years championship. Yvonne is the current Nations Cup Ladies Singles Champion and has been runner up in 1999 and semi finalist in 1997 and 2002. Lives in Stonehouse, South Lanarkshire.

Shona Harper – Shona has been an internationalist since 1994. She was crowned World Champion in 2001, runner-up in 1997 and semi-finalists in 2003 & 2004. Shona is the current European Ladies Singles Champion and is looking forward to the challenge of defending this title. Lives in Wisbech with Andy Lucas and family.

Kathy Paton – Kathy has been an internationalist since 1999 and lives in Glasgow with her husband George and family.

Diane Colville – Diane has been an internationalist since 1993. She and Yvonne Ewing were European Doubles champions in 1996 and she reached the European singles quarter final stage in 1996 & 1997. Diane lives in Ayr with her family.

Fiona Herd – Fiona became an internationalist in 2004 and reached the quarter finals of this years World championships. Fiona lives and plays pool in Dunfermline.

Yvonne Saunders – Yvonne lives in Whitburn and became an internationalist last year.

Helen Loughran – Helen made her international return after 2 years off at this years World Championships. She lives in Blantyre, near Glasgow.

Claire Dempster – Claire made her international come back last year and has been very successful. She reached the quarter finals of the World Championships in 1996. Was crowned Nations Cup champion in 1998 and runner-up last year. Claire was also runner-up in the European Championships in 1997 and quarter finalist in 1996. Claire was runner-up in the 2004 British Open held in November last year. Lives in Shawlands, Glasgow.

Gaynor McHaffie – Gaynor has been an internationalist since 1997 and is always present at events. She reached the quarter finals of last years Nations Cup. Gaynor lives in Edinburgh.

Denise Laing – Denise Laing became an internationalist last year and helped the Scottish Ladies Team secure the Nations Cup title in Camber Sands last year. Lives in Falkirk with her family. A very talented player who will relish being part of the A squad.

Jane Doig – New to the international scene this year, we wish Jane well in her first event. Jane lives in Dunfermline with her family.

Joanne McPherson – New to the international scene this year, Joanne made her debut at this years World Championship and performed really well. Joanne lives in Inverness.

Angela MacKay – Angela represented Scotland for the first time at Camber Sands last year. A very talented player who is getting better every time we see her. Angie lives in Edinburgh with her family.

Gemma Keenan – Gemma became an internationalist in 2003 and is ever present. Gemma lives in Saltcoats in Ayrshire.

Katie Paterson – Katie joined the international team last year and lives in Falkirk with her family.

Elaine Campbell – Elaine has been an internationalist since 1999. She was runner –up in the world championship at her first attempt and has been a quarter finalist in 2000, 2001, 2002 & 2003. Elaine was runner-up in the Scottish Championship and was a semi-finalist in the British Open held in November last year. Lives in Glenboig, North Lanarkshire. Sharon Blackburn – Sharon used to play pool in Inverness but moved to Essex a few years ago where she lives with her husband. Sharon is making her international debut in the Isle of Man and is really looking forward to it. We wish Sharon the best of luck.

Jackie McIntyre - Jackie plays pool in Glasgow. She is making her international debut at the European Championships and again we wish “Ginger” the best of luck.

Pauline Selkirk – Pauline played for the Scotland Ladies team in a friendly match a few years ago at Barlinnie Prison in Glasgow. Pauline lives with her family in Midlothian and is making her international debut at this tournament. Pauline, best of luck from all the girls.
